PROJECT EQUIPMENT OTHER PLANTS AND SHRUBS DATA

The use of native plants in landscaping has become a rising trend in Texas. Native shrubs as a whole are very low maintenance demanding very little pruning, very little supplemental water, and are resistant to pests and diseases. Using less water becomes the most valued benefit because water conservation has become a major issue in todays gardening practices. Xeriscaping ("xeros" is Greek for dry)incorporates basic principles which lead to saving water. This project was designed to measure the amount of water actually needed by native ornamental shrubs when planted in a xeriscaped landscape.
